Carmel City Councilman Adam Aasen offered the following comments:

Aasen

“This incident upsets and angers me,” Aasen said. “While we are a safe community and there’s no need to panic, we can’t dismiss this and take it lightly. We must remain vigilant against crime. Our police do a great job taking immediate action and I thank them. If you are concerned about safety in your area, please email me at aaasen@carmel.in.gov or call (317) 361-6737 and I can facilitate a meeting for your neighborhood.

“It’s up to the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office to decide whether they are charged as adults and whether the names of the suspects are released. If they are guilty (everyone deserves due process), I hope they face severe consequences to send a message that Hamilton County doesn’t tolerate crime.

“This should also be a reminder – as we begin our budget process in Carmel – to continue to fund our police departments to keep our city safe.”
