Pre-election campaign finance reports to be filed Friday with the Hamilton County Clerk’s Office will show Miles Nelson raised a record-breaking $316,130 during the last reporting period, between April 8 and Oct. 13.

So far this cycle he has raised more than $445,000 and his campaign enters the homestretch with an impressive $116,081 cash on hand.

Nelson’s fundraising success since April’s report is powered by grassroots supporters, including more than 1,000 gifts from nearly 750 unique donors. A remarkable 62 percent of all donations this reporting period were $100 or lower.

“I’m humbled by the support of my friends and neighbors, who believe in this campaign and my vision for how to keep Carmel moving forward,” Nelson said. “Because of their commitment, we have the necessary resources to compete and finish strong over the next few weeks.”

In the period post-debate, Nelson’s report will show skyrocketed fundraising, bringing in more than $80,000 during this short window, including gifts from more than 180 first-time donors to the campaign.

According to the Miles for Mayor campaign, the report will also dispel rumors spread by Sue Finkam and her team about the source of Nelson’s fundraising success. More than 93 percent of the donations received were from donors who reside in Indiana. Since April, he received nine donations (totaling $2,200) from Washington, D.C., which includes a $2,000 check from the IBEW and six small gifts from former staffers of U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly.

The reported figures above do not include in-kind donations.
