The Carmel girls finished their season with a nice win, beating Ben Davis 70-61 Friday at the Eric Clark Activity Center.
The Greyhounds and Giants were tied at 15-15 after one quarter. Carmel ramped up its offense in the next two periods, leading 37-33 at halftime, then blasting through the third quarter to go up 61-40 by the end of the period. Izzy Shepherd had 10 points in the third. Ben Davis scored 21 points in the fourth, but the ‘Hounds held on for the win.
Shepherd scored 23 points, including three 3-pointers. Taryn Fisher had 20 points and had a great night at the free-throw line, making 10 of 12. Mackenzie Woods dished out eight assists, while Shepherd and Fisher both handed out four. Megan Hamm led the rebounds with six, followed by five each for Jamie Elliott and Fisher.
Carmel is 11-11 and plays Fishers Tuesday in the first round of Class 4A Sectional 8 at Hamilton Southeastern.
