Carmel girls golf bounces back after Tuesday’s loss

The Carmel girls golf team got a rebound victory on Wednesday, beating Noblesville 149-156 at Harbour Trees Golf Club.

The No. 1-ranked Greyhounds dropped a close match to No. 5 Hamilton Southeastern on Tuesday, but had solid performances in collecting a nine-hole win against the No. 4 Millers. Claire Swathwood led Carmel with a two under par 33, running away with medalist honors. Michaela Headlee and Kamryn Williams both scored 38s. Ava Nguyen added a 40 and Sophie Mock scored 42.

Caroline Whallon led Noblesville with a 37. Jordan Adam and Josie Kelley both carded 39s and Karis Shields rounded out the scoring with a 41.

Both teams are back in action Saturday, playing 18-hole tournaments. The Greyhounds travel to Golf Club of Indiana for the Zionsville Invitational, while the Millers head to The Edge for the Lapel Invitational.

Guerin Catholic played a three-team meet with Noblesville and Westfield on Thursday, scoring a 175.

Isabella Pinon led the Golden Eagles with a 40. Other scores were Sydney Delagrange 44, Ali Scott 45, Sarah Rigg 46, Gracie Navarro 49 and Avery Wall 52.
