Carmel Community Players announces youth auditions for Disney play

Carmel Community Players (CCP) announces auditions for Disney’s Descendants: The Musical, a Rising Star Production.

Auditions will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12 at CCP Warehouse, 510 3^rd Ave. SW, Carmel. Auditions will be held in 30-minute time slots, with limited spots per slot. Please register for your time slot in advance.

How to register

1. Sign up for your audition time slot.
2. Print, complete, and bring your audition form on your scheduled day.
3. Review the parent information.

What to prepare

Please bring your completed audition form. Each auditioner will need to prepare a one-minute vocal audition. Please bring a pre-recorded backing track (A Bluetooth speaker for device connection, or a laptop for thumb drives will be available.)

Auditions will consist of vocal auditions and cold reading from the script. Auditioners will not be held past their 30-minute time slot.

Everyone who auditions will be offered a role. CCP is open to gender-flexible casting, but the genders of the characters must remain as written, per Disney licensing requirements. You may choose to decline your offered role; it will not affect your eligibility for any future CCP shows.

Cast members must make every effort to attend scheduled rehearsals. The rehearsal schedule will be set up around cast member conflicts to the best of CCP’s ability. No rehearsals can be missed after June 2, except for illness. Anyone with conflicts between June 3 and June 11 are advised not to audition, as all cast members must be available for all performances.

The Rising Star Production is reserved for youth performers, per the Encore Association. Auditions for Disney’s Descendants: The Musical will be open to anyone who will be entering sixth grade next school year up to age 20.

Synopsis

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney’s Descendants: The Musical is a musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films. Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island … until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?
