Candy, costumes and fall fun await at Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (CCPR)’s annual Sensory Friendly Trick-or-Treat Trail from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. at River Heritage Park, 11813 River Road.
Designed specifically for individuals with disabilities and their families, this annual event provides all the Halloween fun without the fright.
Families will stroll along River Heritage Park’s fully accessible trails while friendly volunteers in non-scary costumes hand out treats. The path is intentionally free of loud music, spooky decorations and full-face masks, making it a comfortable environment for trick-or-treaters of all ages and sensory needs. At the end of the trail, trick-or-treaters can enjoy seasonal games and activities hosted by CCPR’s adaptive program volunteers.
“Our Sensory Friendly Trick-or-Treat Trail allows participants to experience the excitement of Halloween in a safe, welcoming environment,” CCPR Inclusion Program Supervisor Kelvin Solares. “For many families, it’s the highlight of the season.”
The event will also feature a resource fair, where local organizations will share helpful community resources and services for individuals with disabilities and their families. If your organization is interested in participating in the resource fair, you can reach out to Kelvin Solares at ksolares@carmelclayparks.com.
