The Cancer Care Cup’s ninth annual Golf Outing, held on July 31 at Eagle Creek Golf Course, was a massive success. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, golfers, and supporters, the event raised more than $22,000 to directly assist cancer patients across Indiana.
Since its founding in 2017, Cancer Care Cup has raised and distributed approximately $300,000. In just the past two years, the Cancer Care Cup has provided critical financial support to several hundred oncology patients across more than 36 Indiana counties. These funds help patients cover essential expenses such as housing, transportation, utilities, groceries, and medical equipment during their cancer journey.
“We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from our community,” Cancer Care Cup President Branden Voegerl said.
Cancer Care Cup Vice President Shallon Vandervort added, “Every dollar raised helps us ease the burden for patients in treatment and ensures they don’t have to face their battles alone.”
The impact of this support is best expressed by the patients themselves. One recipient shared:
“I wanted to thank you and let you know how grateful I am for the help you gave me. I became homeless and was diagnosed with cancer in the same month. I moved during treatment to be closer to my daughter, who is three and has Spina Bifida. She is trached and vented. With the help of my hospital social worker, I found an apartment, but it remained empty until Cancer Care Cup came along and helped me get a bed and other essential furniture. I just want to say thank you. I appreciate you all so much. What you do is amazing for people like me – battling cancer, unable to work, and caring for a child with serious health issues.” – Oncology patient with Metastatic Melanoma
The Cancer Care Cup remains committed to expanding its reach and impact across Indiana. With continued community involvement, the organization looks forward to helping even more families in the future. The number of patient assistance requests has grown significantly, from just a few each month to a steady stream, making community support more vital than ever.
