Bruce L. Chappell

October 25, 1950 – February 23, 2024

Bruce L. Chappell, 73, although he lived in many places, he would always come back home to Sheridan; he passed away on February 23, 2024.

He was born to the late Wayne Chappell and Doris (Baird) Stultz on October 25, 1950, in Noblesville. Bruce graduated from Sheridan High School, Class of 1969. Bruce was then called to serve in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. At the time he was honorably discharged, he proudly served for nine years.

When he returned home, he worked for the Indianapolis Airport for a while before moving to Florida. After living in Florida for a while, he decided he wanted to return home to Sheridan, and he worked as a general laborer.

Bruce liked to work with his hands, and he loved cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed building model cars, and he also quickly became a good mechanic. He would look forward to working on his vehicles. He also liked to work on motorcycles, and in his younger years, he and a group of friends would go to the track and race motorcycles.

Bruce never met a stranger and was friendly to anyone who crossed his path. He enjoyed having conversations with people.

Bruce was a member of the American Legion Post 67, where he would go to visit with friends and share stories of his military life.

Bruce leaves behind his children, Shauna Harker, Dustin (Tanya) Storms, Melissa (Gabriel) Chappell-Negron, and Nichole (EJ) Chappell. He was a proud grandfather to eight and a great-grandfather to four. He also leaves behind his sister, Roberta “Bobbi Jo” (Jeff) Stultz-Raines-Sowders; his brother, Jeffrey Scott Stultz; his aunt, Norma Hobson; along with his two uncles, Ralph “Jack” Baird and Don Baird; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
