Boys tennis: Golden Eagles play close with HSE, Fishers

In a Monday battle of ranked Hamilton County boys tennis teams, No. 6 Guerin Catholic edged out No. 22 Hamilton Southeastern 3-2.
The Golden Eagles won at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles to take a 2-0 lead, then the Royals’ Otto Lutz took the No. 3 singles match. Cole Metzger clinched the match for Guerin by winning at No. 2 singles.
The Golden Eagles dropped a Tuesday match to Fishers, the No. 15 team in the state, 3-2.

No. 1 doubles: Ethan Fairfield and Sam Barrett (F) def. Jake Bratton and A.J. Hacker (GC) 6-3, 6-0

Westfield won the eight-team Shelbyville Invitational on Saturday.
The Shamrocks finished a perfect 16-0 for the day. Parker Kalis, Quentin Markle and Harrison Sindelar all won their singles flights. The doubles teams of Connor Maris and Nicholas Mabe and Joe Day and Connor Housefield also went 3-0 and won their doubles flights.
