Boys tennis: Carmel, HSE reach state finals

The Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern boys tennis teams have reached the finals of the IHSAA state tournament after semi-state wins on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The top-ranked Greyhounds won the Culver Academies 2 semi-state by beating No. 26-ranked Kokomo 5-0. Carmel qualified for state for the 20th time in program history.

The ninth-ranked Royals triumphed at the Center Grove 2 semi-state, getting past the 10th-ranked and host Trojans 3-2 to qualify for state for the first time.

Both teams are headed to the state quarterfinals, which take place at 10 a.m. Friday at North Central’s Barbara Wynne Tennis Center. Southeastern plays No. 28 Silver Creek, while Carmel takes on No. 15 Avon.
