Wessel, Lemmon earn alternate spots to Junior National Championship

The Boys Indiana Junior PGA Championship finished Friday at Rock Hollow in Peru.
The event also serves as a qualifier for the Junior PGA National Championship, with the top two finishers earning a spot at the national event. Those places went to Middlebury’s Silas Haarer with a 68-67=135 and Evansville’s Luke Johnston, who scored 70-66=136.
Two golfers with local ties earned spots as alternates. Eli Wessel, an incoming senior at Guerin Catholic, tied for fifth with 70-71=141 (three under par), while McCordsville’s Elijah Lemmon placed seventh, taking the final alternate spot, with 73-69=142 (two under par). Lemmon eagled hole No. 15 during the second round in addition to making 10 birdies. Wessel made six birdies for the event.

The Indiana Junior Golf and Prep tours made a stop at the Richmond Elks Golf Club on Wednesday.
Noblesville’s Andrew Williamson won the Boys 16-19 division, making a pair of birdies along the way. Carmel’s Austin Carter and Vidyut Anand went 1-2 in the Boys 11-12 division; Carter made four birdies in his round.
