Members at the Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville (BGCN) now have a new opportunity outdoors to participate in Indiana’s pastime: Basketball. On Tuesday, Sept. 7, BGCN will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on the court that was made possible thanks to funding by the Indianapolis NBA All-Star Legacy Project Grant.

“This project has provided an outdoor space where we can provide additional programming during after-school and out-of-school hours to youth members ages 5-18 that promotes basketball education, physical fitness and recreation while teaching members the importance of an active, healthy lifestyle,” said BGCN Executive Director Becky Terry. “The Club will be able to offer new programs to recruit teenagers, such as 3-on-3 tournaments, events, or leagues, during Club hours and after-hours to provide them with a safe space where they can meet friends, have fun and engage with positive adult role models.”

Adding an outdoor court was a project that was always on a “wish list” for the Club but would not have been possible without the support of the NBA All-Star Legacy Grant. BGCN leadership has been extremely grateful for the local community partners that played in a roll in the project to make this wish a reality for local Club Kids.

“From STEM learning labs to basketball courts like this at Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville, our NBA All-Star Legacy projects exhibit the importance of taking an event like NBA All-Star and making it more than a game for our great communities throughout Indiana,” said Rick Fuson, Founding Chairman, All-Star Board of Directors and President and Chief Operating Officer, Pacers Sports & Entertainment. “We are thrilled to see this new court become a community asset as we work to engage and unite Hoosiers through the game of hoops.”

Leadership from the Club, the City of Noblesville, Chamber of Commerce and the NBA All-Star Legacy Project Host Committee will be present at the event. The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7 outdoors at the Club, located at 1700 Conner St., Noblesville.
