Boys basketball roundup: Tigers cruise, ‘Rocks win on the road

Fishers cruised to a 91-46 victory against Metropolitan Tuesday at the Tiger Den.

The Class 4A No. 7 Tigers led 17-5 after one quarter, then zoomed through the second period, pouring in 30 points to take a 47-13 halftime lead. Jalen Haralson scored 19 points during the first half, with JonAnthony Hall adding six points.

Bryson Seymour threw in two 3-pointers during the second quarter, and he was just getting started. Seymour nailed four more 3s in the second half, giving him a total of six for the game and 18 points. As a team, Fishers put up 22 points in both the third and fourth periods.

Haralson was the leading scorer with 28 points. Taden Metzger also had a hot-shooting night, draining four 3s for 12 points, including three in the fourth period.

The Tigers are 2-1 and play Friday at Noblesville in their first Hoosier Crossroads Conference game of the season.

Westfield went on the road for the first time this season Tuesday, and came home with a 49-39 win over Pendleton Heights.

The Shamrocks sailed to a 15-0 lead in the first quarter, then held off a run by the Arabians to stay ahead 17-9 at the end of the period. The other three quarters were more evenly played, but Westfield maintained a 26-19 lead at halftime. The ‘Rocks were up 34-25 after a defensive third quarter, holding Pendleton to only six points.

Alex Romack led Westfield with 17 points, including nine in the fourth quarter to help keep the ‘Rocks in front. Armani Middlebrooks added 12 points.

Westfield is 2-0 and heads to Zionsville Friday to play its first HCC game of the season.
