Bonnie Carolyn Grant-Aquino

October 28, 1930 – August 2, 2023

Bonnie C. Grant-Aquino (Bon Bon), 92, Noblesville, and formerly of Elkhart, Ind., passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms at 3:58 a.m. on August 2, 2023.

Bonnie was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 28, 1930, to Howard and Victoria Ryan. Howard and Victoria dedicated their lives to others through The Salvation Army. Bonnie married Roy F. Grant Jr. on September 15, 1951. After the passing of Roy in 1988, Bonnie was remarried to John T. Aquino of Chicago in 1992 until John’s passing in 2012.

Bonnie is survived by Matthew R. Grant (Carmel) married to Andrea Grant and Adam M. Grant (Carmel) married to Stacie Grant. Bonnie has 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bonnie accomplished many things in her lifetime. She was on the Park and Recreation Board, the Planning Commission for the City of Elkhart, and because of that service, Bonnie received one of the very few Keys to the City of Elkhart. Also, back in the mid-70s, she was one of six women who started People who need People (Interracial Rap Sessions) which helped bring together a racially divided community. These are just a few of Bonnie’s great accomplishments.

Bon Bon’s wishes are to celebrate her life, so we will be having a Celebration of Life from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Lawrence W. Inlow Park, Carmel. Lunch and drinks will be provided.

Memorials may be made to The Salvation Army at give.salvationarmyusa.org.
