Blackhawks split two road games

Sheridan split a pair of road games early this week.
On Monday, the Blackhawks traveled to Frankton and lost to the Class 2A No. 9 Eagles 61-23. Frankton was on top from the beginning, leading 19-3 after one quarter and 34-6 at halftime. Chaney Smith scored eight points to lead Sheridan; both she and Ashley Webel made two 3-pointers.
The ‘Hawks rebounded on Tuesday by taking a trip to Lebanon and coming home with a 50-42 victory. The teams were tied at 14-14 after the first quarter; Webel drained two 3s during that period. The Tigers then led 28-21 at halftime.
Sheridan came back in the third quarter, holding Lebanon to only two points while scoring 12 of its own. Five different players got baskets during the period, which ended with Sheridan ahead 35-30. The Blackhawks’ balance saw them through the fourth quarter, with Taylor Bates scoring five points to lead the way.
Bates totaled 18 points and collected nine rebounds, while Webel finished with 14 points. Cecilia Timme collected seven rebounds and made five steals, with Smith getting five more steals.
Sheridan is 9-3 and returns to action next Tuesday by playing at the Western Classic.
