The Noblesville baseball team won its Hoosier Crossroads Conference opener Thursday, beating Avon 4-2 at Dunker Field.
The Millers got on the board in the third inning when Tanner Miller hit a left field double to score Trevor Corbett and McCoy Fulk. The Orioles tied the game in the fifth inning, but Noblesville came back with two runs in the sixth. Cole Schott scored the go-ahead run when Aiden Reynolds reached on an error, then Jalen Stidham got home on Corbett’s left field single.
Corbett had two hits in the game. Joe Glander pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and allowing only three hits.
The Millers are 3-4 and play at Avon to complete the series. Noblesville hosts Fort Wayne Carroll at 11 a.m. Saturday. Be sure to read the Reporter on Monday for more in-depth reporting on Noblesville’s games.
