Collaboration helping to advance field of public health

Ball State University’s Department of Nutrition and Health Science honored the Hamilton County Health Department with an award for Outstanding External Organization/Partner at a ceremony on April 5.

The award acknowledges the significant contributions made by an external organization to the department’s mission and goals.

The Health Department’s Health Education Department hosts an internship every summer. At least two current employees at the Hamilton County Health Department were Ball State University students and interns under this program.

“We are truly honored to receive this award from Ball State,” says Jim Ginder, Health Education Specialist and head of the department’s internship program. “We are proud to support the education and professional development of students in the field of public health.”

This is the second time the County Health Department has been honored with this award. Health Department Administrator Jason LeMaster, an alumnus of Ball State University, says that’s a testament to the department’s ongoing commitment to advancing the field of public health.

“As an alumnus of Ball State University, I am especially proud of the partnership between our department and the university,” LeMaster said. “This award reaffirms the value of our collaboration and the positive impact it has on future health professionals.”
