The Jackson Township Fire Department has selected Hamilton Heights senior Justin Tilton as the recipient of the annual Arcenio “Rambo” Rumbaoa Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was recently presented by Jackson Township Fire Chief James Carter.

Rumbaoa, affectionately known by everyone simply as “Rambo,” was a valued member of the Jackson Township Fire Department family who passed away in 2022. Rambo was deeply committed to serving others and was always working to further his education in firefighting and emergency medical services. In his memory, the scholarship was created to help support students who share those same passions and aspirations in fire and emergency medical services.

Tilton embodies the dedication and drive that this scholarship represents. He has dreamed of becoming a firefighter since he was a young boy and has already taken impressive steps toward achieving that goal. He is currently enrolled in the John Hinds Fire and Rescue program and will graduate with both his Firefighter 1 and Firefighter 2 certifications. In addition, he has dedicated seven hours every Saturday to EMT classes and is expected to become a certified EMT before graduation.

What truly made Tilton stand out was not only his ambition, but also his heart for service and his commitment to the profession at such a young age. His work ethic, determination, and passion for helping others reflect the same spirit that Rambo carried throughout his life and career.

The Jackson Township Fire Department is honored to support Justin Tilton as he begins his journey in the fire and emergency medical field and looks forward to seeing the positive impact he will make in the years ahead.
