Arrowood details Heights’ On-Site, Off-Site Learning

By DR. DEREK ARROWOOD

Heights Superintendent

Hamilton Heights School Corporation (HHSC) is excited to welcome students back on our regularly scheduled start date of Tuesday, Aug. 11.

HHSC will offer two different types of learning opportunities during the fall semester. Students may participate in On-Site Learning or Off-Site Learning. We look forward to welcoming all students to On-Site Learning classes beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 11, unless an Off-Site Learning Form has been completed and submitted by a parent/guardian. This form must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 26 to be considered for Off-Site Learning.

If you would like for your child to participate in On-Site Learning, you simply need to make sure you have completed the online registration process for the 2020-2021 school year.

Parents selecting the Off-Site Learning Option will also need to make sure you have completed the online registration process for the 2020-2021 school year. The principal will review the Off-Site Learning request and contact each parent to discuss the best placement for the student no later than Friday, July 31.

Off-Site Learning will take place using SeeSaw (Elementary) and Canvas (Middle School and High School). Each student who participates in Off-Site Learning will be provided a device by HHSC if selected to participate in Off-Site Learning. The Off-Site Learning option is available for students who have risk factors, health issues, those who have immediate family members with health issues, or those who have some other substantial reason to not attend On-Site Learning.

Grades K-4 students must commit to this option for at least the first nine-week grading period. Grades 5-12 students must commit to this option for the entire fall semester. If a parent or student strongly disagrees with wearing a mask, shield, or face covering at any time during the day or on the bus, Off-Site Learning would be a good option. Off-Site Learning Program Details for HHES, HHMS, and HHHS can be found at this link.

Again, parents must complete the Off-Site Learning Form by midnight Sunday, July 26 in order to qualify for this option for the first grading period or semester. Also, as a reminder the HHSC COVID-19 School Re-Entry Guidelines & Expectations Plan is a living, breathing document that is being updated daily with Frequently Asked Questions and Answers that have been updated since initial publication. This information starts on page 15 of this document.

We appreciate your continued patience as we navigate through the challenges brought forth by this pandemic. HHSC is committed to helping ensure that our staff and students can return to school in the safest, least disruptive, and most productive manner possible.
