Republican State Representative Alaina Shonkwiler has filed her candidacy for re-election in Indiana House District 29, which is located entirely within Hamilton County, and includes Noblesville.

“Serving the community where I grew up and chose to raise my family is the honor of a lifetime, and our work has just begun,” Shonkwiler said. “Throughout my first term, I have focused on delivering results for our district by authoring and sponsoring legislation that strengthens public safety, encourages a healthier Indiana, improves energy and utility affordability, and makes life more affordable for Hoosier families.”

First elected in 2024, Shonkwiler serves on the following House Committees: Government & Regulatory Reform, Public Policy, and Utilities, Energy & Telecommunications. Prior to her service as a State Representative, she served in various economic and workforce development roles, and as District Director for a Member of Congress.

Shonkwiler is a strong law-and-order conservative and was awarded the Legislator of the Year Award from the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police for legislation she authored and passed to provide law enforcement with the tools they need to keep communities safe and always stand with those who serve. She advocates for lower taxes and the elimination of wasteful spending, reliable and affordable utility services that protect consumers, and an education system that empowers parents and works for every child.

“Our district deserves strong, effective representation that reflects our values and understands the real challenges Hoosier families and businesses face every day,” Shonkwiler said. “I’m excited to seek re-election and to continue earning the trust and support of the people I’m privileged to serve.”

Shonkwiler lives in Noblesville with her husband, Jason Shonkwiler, a Noblesville Police Department Sergeant and current School Resource Officer at Noblesville High School, and their two children, Hannah and Kyle.
