August 14, 1944 – March 15, 2023
Marilyn Kay Long (Trout), 78, Carmel, formally of Cicero and Indianapolis, died peacefully at her home on March 15, 2023, with her beloved dog Havee by her side.
Marilyn was born on August 14, 1944, in Noblesville to John Paul Long and Lenora Harriett Robbins (Meyncke). She was raised in Cicero by her mother Lenora and her stepfather J. Harold Meyncke. She was a graduate of Jackson Central High School in 1962, and a member of the United Methodist Church and the Sheridan American Legion.
Marilyn was employed for many years by the Paul E. Estridge Sr. family in Carmel, she was a manager at CBSI in Sheridan, and the Administrative Assistant at A-1 Demolition in Noblesville.
For the last 14 years, Marilyn worked at the Target Store in Nora, Ind. She started her career at Target as a Fitting Room Attendant, moved to Cashier and during most of the COVID-19 pandemic you could see Marilyn at the front doors of Target working security and greeting customers. Marilyn loved her customers and friends at Target. She had many regular customers who would come in daily and visit with her as well as people would wait in her line so that they could chat. After a brief illness, Marilyn even planned on returning to work at Target in April.
Marilyn was the most loving caring person you could meet. She could make you laugh so hard you wanted to cry. Her favorite times were her many trips to Las Vegas or any casino. She could sit at a slot machine for hours where she won many jackpots.
She is survived by her sons, William E. Trout (David L. Owens) of Carmel, Bryan E. Trout of Crawfordsville; a daughter, Lori A. Wilkinson Minor (Michael Minor) of Kokomo; brothers, Mike Etchison of Cicero, Ronald Long (DeeDee) of West Lafayette, and Bill Long of Michigan; sisters, Karen Meyncke (Ogden) of Fayetteville, N.C., and Nancy Long (Wyatt) of Artesia, N.M.; grandchildren, Kevin Wilkinson, Marissa Wilkinson, and Jillianne Wilkinson of Kokomo, Tabatha Harrison (Trout) of Westfield, Bryan Trout of Anderson, and Zac Trout of Cicero. She had 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She had two special cousins, Nancy Long of Franklin and Lois Eubanks of Cicero; and special friends, Tom and Chris Affolder of Sheridan and Kim Preston of Indianapolis.
Preceding her in death and rejoicing in heaven is her son, Casey H. Trout; parents, Harold and Lenora Meyncke, and John Paul Long and stepmother Vera Long; brother, Robert Long; sister, Sandra Long Ellis; brothers-in-law, Phillip Ogden and Robert Ellis; a son-in-law, Barry Wilkinson; a daughter-in-law, Tami Booher; and her dog, Sugar Sugar.
