Hamilton Heights Indoor Percussion competing at state prelims Saturday

Submitted

Last weekend, the Hamilton Heights Indoor Percussion unit traveled to Pendleton Heights High School.

In only the unit’s second season of existence, the students were promoted to the next level of competition. These kids have been performing at a high level, winning Regional A shows and setting themselves up to win the class. However, they were demonstrating skill sets beyond their class (musically, visually, and conceptually), and therefore were promoted to PSA class.

This is quite the accomplishment, given that the unit’s most veteran members have played for only two seasons versus other groups with student members who have four years of experience plus years of tradition – not to mention groups who train to march and play during their fall competitive marching seasons.

This Saturday, Heights Indoor Percussion will perform at 12:57 p.m. the I.P.A. State Prelims Contest at Avon High School.

Anyone interested is invited to attend and support the group at this Saturday’s competition. There are 21 PSA groups, and the top groups advance to the I.P.A. State Finals competition on Saturday, April 1 in Terre Haute at the Hulman Center at Indiana State University.
