April 3, 1957 – March 14, 2023
Steve Fox, 65, Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at his home. He was born on April 3, 1957, to Kenneth and June (Bowen) Fox in Atlanta, Ind.
Steve was born in 1957 to June Fox Tyner and the late Kenneth Fox. Steve was one of seven children, growing up on the family farm in Atlanta.
Steve met the love of his life Ronda and married her in 1975 in Arcadia. They were blessed with a daughter, Angela (Orton), the next year. Steve did factory work and also worked at Agratech Seed Corn and Pioneer Hybrid. In 2001, he started his own business, Fox’s Carpentry and Woodworking, and enjoyed success as a sought-after handyman. In later years Steve worked as a manager at Northwind Electrical until his retirement in 2019. In his spare time, Steve could be found in the garage tinkering on his latest projects or fixing his truck (again).
Steve was most proud as a dad and grandfather. Better known as Pap, he could be seen on the sidelines of soccer gamers or helping around the house. Pap never learned to say no to his grandkids and loved every moment spent with them. Steve and Ronda loved their time with family at their cabin near Patoka Lake, with countless hours spent on the water and exploring southern Indiana with and without the kids and grandkids. During Angela’s illness Steve was there every day with loving support.
Steve was loved by everyone he encountered and would give you the shirt off his back if you asked. Memories will be cherished by friends and family, of whom Steve was fiercely loyal.
He is survived by his wife, Ronda (Thatcher) Fox; son, Bryan Orton and grandchildren, Evan and Ellie of Fishers; mother, June Fox-Tyner; brothers, Ken Fox and Gary Fox; sisters, Donnetta (Terry) Williams, Joann Fox, and Cindy Brunes; mother-in-law, Aggie Thatcher; sisters-in-law, Neila Teal and Carolyn Friend; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Anne Orton; and father, Kenneth Fox.
A celebration of life will be held from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Hampton Inn, 11575 Commercial Drive, Fishers.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hamilton County 4-H, 2003 Pleasant St., Noblesville, IN 46060; or Colorectal Cancer Alliance, 1025 Vermont Ave. NW, Suite 1066, Washington, DC 20005 (ccalliance.org).
