The Hamilton Southeastern girls lacrosse team opened its season Tuesday with a 16-1 home win over Homestead.
The Royals led 12-0 at halftime. Southeastern’s defense led the way, forcing the Spartans into eight turnovers. Senior Alex Dean had three ground balls and two forced turnovers, and scored a goal on offense. Senior Sydney Schena made an interception and collected a ground ball, while junior Olivia Dean had one forced turnover and one ground ball.
Ten different players scored for the Royals. Senior Ellie Nawa and junior Brooke Daugherty each had three goals, with Nawa also dishing out an assist. Junior Sidney Sloan handed out two assists and scored a goal. Sophomores Evelynn Armstrong and Sarah Gastineau each put in two goals, with Gastineau making two forced turnovers and one assist. Freshman Edie Fisher had one assist and caused two turnovers.
Hayden Gilbert, Evelyn Schenck, Olivia Bradley and Sam Kim each added one goal, while Emma Reichert had one assist. Reagan Janes picked up three ground balls.
Southeastern hosts Lafayette next Tuesday.
