Mike Hartley selected to fill vacant seat on Jackson Township Board

Hamilton County Republican Party Chairman Mario Massillamany called a caucus to fill a vacancy on the Jackson Township Board made when Glen Schwartz recently resigned.

The caucus was held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 at Red Bridge Community Building in Cicero. Michael J. Hartley was unanimously elected by the Jackson Township Precinct Committeemen to fill the vacant position.

Mike Hartley has been married 43 years to his high school sweetheart, Robin. They have two sons, Doug and Nick, and twin granddaughters. He attended Hamilton Heights schools, Anderson College, and Mid America School of Mortuary Science. He has been Funeral Director and manager of Hartley Funeral Homes for the past 31 years.

Hartley is also President of the Hamilton County Cemetery Commission. His family roots are in Jackson, White River and Adams townships and go back to when Indiana became a state.

    Why was this action and Board opening not advertised and date/place of caucus advertised, published or included with the action planned ? Most likely others who have an interest to serve may have presented themselves…Isnt the county Republican Party Chairman in charge of this type issue?
