Westfield’s boys team dropped its first game of the season in tough fashion Friday, falling at Zionsville 43-40 in an overtime Hoosier Crossroads Conference game, the HCC opener for the Shamrocks.
The score was tied at 7-7 after one period, with Alex Romack scoring all seven of Westfield’s points. The Shamrocks edged ahead 19-17 by halftime, and were up 31-28 after three quarters. Trey Buchanan gave the ‘Rocks a lift with two 3-pointers in the second quarter and seven more points in the third.
The Eagles came back to tie the game at 38-38 by the end of regulation. Zionsville then outscored Westfield 5-2 in the extra period.
Romack finished the game with 21 points, while Buchanan scored 13.
The Shamrocks are 2-1 and host Guerin Catholic next Saturday, Dec. 10.
