Rep. Spartz calls for U.N. ships to be deployed to Black Sea

U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz sent a letter on Friday to Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, writing that the UN has failed to respond effectively to the largest armed aggression since World War II.

In the letter, Rep. Spartz urged Guterres to deploy UN ships to the Black Sea immediately to enforce humanitarian corridors. She also asked her Congressional colleagues to stop all funding to the UN until it can show real results.

“I am very disappointed with the lack of active UN leadership to stabilize the situation in Ukraine and restore international order,” Rep. Spartz said, calling the recent “grain deal” the UN’s latest failure to lead.

Hours after the grain deal was reached, Spartz pointed out, Russian forces hit Odessa with cruise missiles.

“This reaffirms again that Russia cannot be trusted and effectively negates this agreement,” Rep. Spartz wrote in the letter, adding that the agreement should be “put on hold until better security arrangements are provided for Ukraine.”

  1. Again Rep. Spartz seems to be paying more attention to Ukraine than the 5th district. Recently when I asked her office for some help I was told she could not make any inquiries because of her committee assignments.
