Mary Louise (Fishwick) Gubocki

January 29, 1930 – July 14, 2022

Mary Louise (Fishwick) Gubocki, 92, Sheridan, formerly of Hobart and Gary, Ind., went home to her Lord and Savior on July 14, 2022, in Indianapolis.

Mary was born to the late Arthur and Josephine (Demarti) Fishwick on January 29, 1930, in Gary, Ind. She attended Lew Wallace High School in Gary; after high school she took some college courses until getting a job as a Telephone Operator for Indiana Bell. She retired after working there for 30 years. Mary was a woman of faith and was a member at the Methodist Church in Hobart. She had a heart of gold and was a caregiver to many people in Hobart. Mary and her dog Maggie enjoyed taking walks, looking forward to seeing people around her neighborhood. Mary’s grandchildren surprised Mary with Maggie.

Mary taught her family the value of hard work and to treat people the way they want to be treated. She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Kevin (Gina) Gubocki and Joseph Gubocki. She was a loving grandma to Heather (Don) Banaski of Portage, Ind., David Gubocki and his girlfriend Jenn Sliwinski of Buffalo, N.Y., Kristen (Christopher) Falzone of Florida, Graftin S. Gubocki of Fishers, Zac Smith of Fishers, and Brennen Smith of Sheridan. She was a proud great-grandma to Aubrey Banaski. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gubocki, on September 14, 2001; her son, Paul Gubocki, in 1991; and her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia Ann (Alex) Prokopis.
