On Monday evening, the Sheridan Community Schools Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Mrs. Melissa Hoffman as the new Assistant Principal of Sheridan Elementary.

Hoffman will join Mrs. Valerie Roberts, who was recently promoted to principal after serving in the assistant role since 2011.

“We are thrilled to have Mrs. Hoffman join our SES family,” Roberts noted. “Melissa will bring the energy, heart, and passion for students we were searching for in our next Assistant Principal!”

Prior to coming to Sheridan, Hoffman was seen as a leader in the Westfield Washington school district. Most recently, she was the Literacy Teacher and RTI Coordinator at Monon Trail Elementary School. In this role, she formed strong bonds with both students and teachers alike and assisted in facilitating data meetings to enhance student performance.

Hoffman has also been a kindergarten teacher in Westfield as well as teaching in many different roles in the Avon school district.

“We are very excited to have Mrs. Hoffman joining our administrative teams,” Superintendent Dave Mundy said. “We had numerous top-notch candidates apply for the position, and it was a privilege to offer the position to Mrs. Hoffman. Her experiences and wealth of knowledge will really assist in our continued growth in Sheridan Schools.”

Hoffman received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Purdue University. She then continued at Indiana State University where she recently obtained her School Administration and Supervision degree. She will begin her duties at Sheridan Elementary in July in order to prepare for the upcoming school year.
