Emily Ann Barrick, 37, Sheridan, passed away in the early morning of Friday, June 3, 2022. Emily was born in Indianapolis on December 6, 1984, to Margaret and Charles Smith. She attended New Palestine and Westfield High School and graduated from Kaplan University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology.
For the last several weeks prior to the news that her cancer had spread, Emily worked for the Woman’s Care Center in Indianapolis. Here she worked alongside many amazing women who, though she only knew them briefly, loved and supported Emily greatly throughout the rest of her journey. Emily loved her work at the Women’s Care Center, where she felt she had finally found her professional calling.
Emily loved the beach, and Gulf Shores, Ala., was her favorite place in the world. She loved traveling there with her family and watching the sun set over the waves. While Emily loved the beach, her greatest joy was spending time with her family and supporting her kids in their various sports and activities.
Emily was a member of The Mill Church of the Nazarene in Noblesville.
Emily is survived by her husband, Joshua Barrick. She and Joshua were married on June 21, 2003. Also surviving are their five children, Noah, Asher, Dakota, Kylee, and Emmarsyn; her father, Charles Smith; brother, Brian Smith (Amanda); and sister, Amy Austin (Andy).
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Smith.
Visitation took place on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at The Mill Church, 1399 Greenfield Ave, Noblesville. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, June 6, 2022, at The Mill Church with additional visitation prior to the service.
Those who attended the service were asked to honor Emily by dressing casually, and/or wearing her favorite color, pink.
