Students at Noblesville West Middle School (NWMS) held a fundraiser this spring to raise money for Family Promise of Hamilton County, a local nonprofit affiliate of a national organization that helps families who are experiencing housing insecurity find attainable housing and live a life of sustainability.
A competition between the sixth, seventh, and eighth graders at NWMS was held to determine which team of students could raise the most money with their team leaders – NWMS teachers – coaching and motivating them. These students and teachers raised a total of $43,088 to help their neighbors and peers experiencing housing insecurity.

Family Promise of Hamilton County envisions a county where every family has access to attainable housing, a livelihood, and the tools necessary to have a sustainable future. Housing insecurity does not look the same for all families. Some families are spending over 60 percent of their income on rent, or two families of four are living doubled up in an apartment just trying to make ends meet. Still other single moms with two kids might be living in their car because they were evicted after the childcare they attended closed and she lost her job.
