The Carmel girls tennis team kept its regional streak rolling on Wednesday.
The No. 1-ranked Greyhounds beat No. 26 West Lafayette 5-0 to win the Kokomo regional. Carmel dropped only nine games among the five matches in claiming its 16th consecutive regional trophy and 22nd in program history.
In singles, No. 1 Lauren Littell won 6-1, 6-0, No. 2 Nora Perkins got a 6-2, 6-0 victory and No. 3 Elyse Nelson was victorious 6-1, 6-0. In doubles, No. 1 Hallie Reeves and Alexa Lewis won 6-2, 6-0 and No. 2 Allie Griffin and Addison Joyce were 6-2, 6-1 winners.
The Greyhounds will travel to Culver Academies on Saturday for the semi-state championship. Carmel plays either No. 21 Crown Point or Munster at noon for a trip to the state finals.
FISHERS CLINCHES AT LN
No. 4-ranked Fishers defended its regional title on Wednesday by beating host Lawrence North.
The Tigers are leading 4-0; the No. 1 singles match was suspended due to weather and will resume this morning. The match must be played out as it could determine entry into the individual singles tournament.
Fishers will play in the Homestead semi-state at 10 a.m. Saturday, taking on the host and No. 17-ranked Spartans.
