Susan Elizabeth Cox

November 14, 1946 – May 12, 2022

Susan Elizabeth Cox, born on November 14, 1946, to William and Betty (Barnard) Peck in Lancaster, Pa., passed away peacefully on May 12, 2022, surrounded by her loving family in Noblesville.

Susan graduated from Park Forest Hill High School in Illinois in 1964 and attended Churchman Business College. Her father’s job took the family to many places, including Argentina during Susan’s high school years.

She met her husband of 54 years, Bruce Warren Cox, on a blind date and they knew right away they were meant for one another. Susan started raising her family while Bruce was a First Lieutenant in the Vietnam War. She lived with family and on military bases while Bruce was in service.

To support her family and have time with her children, Susan worked at Greenbriar Elementary School as a Librarian and at North Central High School as an Administrative Assistant.

An artist at heart, she could always be seen working creatively on paintings, flower arrangements, jewelry, crochet, or baking. Her hands were never empty; they were always busy in either crafting, or care for another.

She was an avid collector of antiques, specializing in handmade pottery, and a member of the Red Wing Collection Society and secretary of Indy Wingers. This passion led to a great many cherished friends and relationships. This tight-knit group traveled together to pottery events to enjoy craftsmanship and fellowship.

She deeply enjoyed time with family, reading, Colts and Pacers games, and was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church.

Quick with a laugh, assistance, or a supportive hug, friends and family knew they could always call on Susan in time of need.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Cox; children, Jennifer (Matt) Jones of Westfield and Jeff (Kelly) Cox of Noblesville; grandchildren, Grady Britt, Kayleigh Britt, and Derek Jones; siblings, Debbie (Jim) Youngkin and Gregg Peck; brother-in-law, Gary Cox; sister-in-law, Sylvia (Ken) Barr; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her beloved dog, Maxx.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Kathy Peck and Judith Hoog.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday May 20, 2022, at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., Noblesville. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. Internment will be at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield.

A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Riverview Health, Paradigm Health, and Noblesville First United Methodist Church for their care and gracious support.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Indiana, 911 E. 86th St., Suite #100, Indianapolis, IN 46240; or Tunnel to Towers Foundation for Fallen First Responder Home Program at t2t.org.
