The Fishers baseball team scored early at Avon, and that led the Class 4A No. 6 Tigers to a 3-1 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over the Orioles on Wednesday.
Fishers scored two runs in the first inning. Joey Brenczewski drew a leadoff walk, stole second base and advanced to third on an error. Carson Dunn then singled him in to score. Later, Caulin Brown hit a left field single to send Dunn home, and the Tigers held a 2-0 lead.
Brown and Dunn teamed up again for another Fishers run in the fifth inning. Brown sent a base hit into right field to score Dunn for the second time. Both players had three hits for the game.
Tate Warner got the win, throwing four strikeouts in six innings and allowing only three hits. Joey Wilmoth pitched the seventh inning and got the save.
The Tigers are 8-1 in HCC play and 15-5 overall. Fishers’ Thursday game against Avon was rained out; the Tigers’ next scheduled game is Monday at home against Yorktown.
