The Noblesville girls lacrosse team rolled to a 12-6 win over Brebeuf Jesuit on Friday.
In the first half, the Millers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Maya Hill handled the majority of the scoring in the first half with four goals. Noblesville led 6-3 at halftime. In the second half, Millers added another six goals.
The Noblesville defense was solid all night with 13 forced turnovers. Tori Cook and Chloe Barnett responsible for three apiece. Goaltender Maddie Reel had five saves on the night. On the offensive end, the Millers won the majority of the draws behind Natalay Blackburn and Emma Hammond with four each, while Avery Pohlman had three.
All scorers were led by Hill’s five goals, Pohlman added two; while Rylee Reagan, Marisha Woehler, Barnett, Blackburn and Hammond each had one. Three players had two assists in the game: Barnett, Woehler and Hill.
The Millers’ record improved to 6-6.
Carmel’s girls team won a back and forth battle over Cathedral in overtime, 10-9 Monday at Murray Stadium.
The Greyhounds led 9-6 with just over four minutes left, but the Irish scored three quick goals to knot up the score and force the extra period. Carmel won the opening draw of the overtime period and Tori Tomalia scored to secure the victory.
Tomalia led the offense with three goals and two assists. Sophia Hanna and Avery Goehl both added two goals, with AnnMarie McGill, Breckin Hare and Sophie Mock each scoring one to round out the Greyhounds scoring. Hanna, Hollis Rang and Elle Tomalia all had one assist.
Freshman Kate Strydesky caused one turnover and had four groundballs to lead the Carmel defense. Brookelyn Jenkins made seven saves in goal for Carmel.
