Carmel, Westfield have lowest unemployment rate in county

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development recently released labor statistics for cities, towns and counties in Indiana as of January.

Carmel’s rate has slightly increased but is still reflective of a strong local economy. The rate for January 2022 was 1.4 percent, which is an increase from December’s 0.08 percent rate.

Carmel’s unemployment rate is tied with Westfield as having the lowest among any city in Hamilton County. Fishers’ unemployment rate is 1.5 percent, and Noblesville’s stands at 1.6 percent. Nearby, Zionsville is slightly lower at 1.1 percent.

Hamilton County’s unemployment rate is 1.5 percent. Indiana’s unemployment rate is 2.4 percent and the national rate is 4 percent, both of which are seasonally adjusted.
