Congratulations to the Carmel Fire Department’s (CFD) three newest paramedics, Garrett Locke, Jared Schultz, and Riley Cheatham. These three were the first to participate in an online hybrid class. With a majority of the classroom portion being online, extreme dedication was required to stay focused. Combined, they additionally put in over 1,300 clinical hours in emergency rooms working with doctors and nurses. Over the last year, they have taken countless exams and demonstrated their competency by passing the psychomotor and cognitive portions of the National Registry, and each has taken hundreds of ambulance calls with a CFD paramedic preceptor. The national pass rate of first-time test takers is 69 percent, but these guys all rocked it on the first attempt.
