The sounds of softball are only nine days away in Indiana and Hamilton County.
Teams have already been practicing, and can began playing games on Monday, March 21 per IHSAA rules. Four Hamilton County squads will start their seasons on that day, and that schedule includes three home games.
Hamilton Heights will host Bishop Chatard on March 21, while Westfield welcomes Monrovia. Sheridan, a sectional champion last season, will play Lebanon in a game at Grand Park. The fourth team, Fishers, is the only one going out of town, as the Tigers travel to Kokomo.
On Tuesday, March 22, three more teams begin their seasons. Two of them will play each other, as Carmel travels to Hamilton Southeastern. Noblesville, which won a regional title last year, also begins its campaign on that day with a trip to Western Boone.
Guerin Catholic, the 2021 Class 3A state runner-up, will open its season March 30 by hosting Lafayette Jefferson. University will start on April 12 when it hosts Living Water Marlins at RoundTripper Academy, the Trailblazers’ home field for the year.
As far as the post-season goes, the county’s Class 4A schools will play Sectional 8 at Fishers this year. The Tigers will host Carmel, Noblesville, Southeastern, Westfield and Zionsville.
Guerin Catholic and Heights will play at Class 3A Sectional 24, which takes place at Delta this season. Jay County, New Castle and Yorktown are also assigned to this sectional.
In Class 1A sectionals, Sheridan travels back to Rossville to compete in Sectional 54, along with Carroll, Clinton Central, Frontier, South Newton and Tri-County. University heads south to Sectional 58 at Bethesda Christian, along with Indiana School for the Deaf, Irvington Prep, Providence Cristo Rey, Riverside, Tindley and Traders Point Christian.
