On Monday, one of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office K-9 units was called upon to assist the Carmel Police Department with a missing child who walked away from a residence. The child was previously diagnosed with autism and a communication disorder.
Sheriff’s Deputy Neal Hoard and his K-9 partner Maudie, a Bloodhound, arrived on the scene. They were briefed on the situation and obtained a scent article. The scent article was introduced to Maudie at the last location that the missing child was seen.
Deputy Hoard and K-9 Maudie worked towards 141st Street and Ivybridge Drive. The child was eventually located near the 1300 block of Kirklees Drive sitting in an unlocked car trying to stay warm. The child was safely returned home and checked by personnel on scene.
To all involved – a job well done!
