‘Rocks fall to Brownsburg

The Westfield boys basketball team dropped a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game at Brownsburg 53-44 on Friday as part of a conference girls-boys doubleheader.
The Shamrocks, ranked No. 4 in the IBCA one-class poll and No. 6 in the Associated Press Class 4A poll, trailed the Bulldogs 15-12 after one quarter, but came back in the second period and tied the game at 25-25 by halftime. Nic Depasquale scored seven points in the half, while Cam Haffner and Trey Buchanan both hit two 3-pointers.
Brownsburg jumped back ahead in the third quarter to take a 38-33 lead. Westfield continued battling in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs were able to hold off the ‘Rocks for the win.
Depasquale scored 13 points, while Buchanan hit four 3-pointers for 12 points.
Westfield is 0-3 in the conference and 10-4 overall, and plays tonight at Tri-West.
WESTFIELD GIRLS FALL
The Westfield girls team also fell to Brownsburg, 49-42 in the first game of the doubleheader.
Stats for the game were unavailable at press time. The Shamrocks, ranked No. 6 in the IBCA poll and No. 4 in the ICGSA Class 4A rankings, finished HCC play at 5-2 and are 16-4 overall. Westfield hosts Fort Wayne Northrop this afternoon.
