Shamrocks sail past Yorktown

Westfield sailed to its sixth straight win on Friday, beating Yorktown 68-36 in an away game.
The Shamrocks, ranked No. 2 in the IBCA poll and No. 7 in the Associated Press Class 4A poll, had control of this game early, leading 20-2 after the first quarter. Cam Haffner scored seven points in that period, while Nic Depasquale had five.
Westfield would outscore the Tigers in all four quarters. The ‘Rocks led 36-12 at halftime, then poured in another 20 points in the third to lead 56-28. Haffner threw in three 3s during that quarter.
Haffner led the scoring with 18 points, totaling four 3s for the game. Alex Romack added 13 points, while Braden Smith scored 11. Trey Buchanan made three triples, including two in the fourth quarter, for nine points. Smith, Trey Dorton, Depasquale and Kai Butterworth all made one 3-pointer.
The Shamrocks are 8-2 and host Carmel, the No. 1-ranked team in the IBCA and AP 4A poll, tonight.
