HSE’s Sydney Parrish named MaxPreps Indiana Player of the Year

Hamilton Southeastern’s Sydney Parrish earned another honor this week, as she was named the MaxPreps.com Indiana girls basketball Player of the Year.
The high school sports website named Players of the Year in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Parrish represented the Hoosier State, with MaxPreps saying “Another member of Oregon’s No. 1 recruiting class, produced 24.8 points, eight rebounds and 2.4 steals per game for 22-3 Royals.”
Parrish, in fact, joins four other Oregon recruits that were named Players of the Year. All five of the future Ducks are seniors, solidifying them as the No. 1 recruiting class.
The other Oregon-bound Players of the Year are:
Te-Hina Paopao (California), a 22.5 points-, 7.9-rebounds-, 4.3 assists-per-game player from La Jolla Country Day
Angela Dugalic (Illinois), who led Maine West (Des Plaines) to a 30-4 season and was named Illinois’ Associated Press Class 4A Player of the Year.
Maddie Scherr (Kentucky), who scored 14.9 points per game for Ryle, plus 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.9 steals per contest
Kylee Watson (New Jersey), a four-time all-area Player of the Year from Mainland Regional who averaged a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) for the season.
Parrish was also named as Honorable Mention on the MaxPreps All-American team, which consists of the top 50 players in the country. Only one other Indiana player made the list: Northwestern senior Madison Layden, who was named as a Fifth Team All-American. Bloomington South’s Anthony Leal was named as Honorable Mention on the boys’ All-American team, the only Indiana player on that list.
