Dear Editor:

Noblesville has always been home to me. I am proud to be a Noblesville High School graduate, and one of the greatest joys of being a father has been watching my two daughters grow, learn, and discover their own paths through the opportunities they’ve had in Noblesville Schools. Seeing the impact of these experiences on their lives has given me an even deeper appreciation for the community and schools that helped shape my own life.

Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand the difference our schools make in the lives of students and families. From show choir and theater to athletics, academic clubs, robotics, and science programs, our schools give students opportunities to explore their interests, discover their strengths, build friendships, and find where they belong. Leadership and service programs also encourage students to develop confidence, take initiative, serve others, and give back to the community they call home.

As a city councilor who values fiscal responsibility, I take decisions involving taxpayer dollars seriously. I understand that families are facing rising costs and that every dollar matters. I also believe it’s important to carefully consider what could be lost when decisions are made about funding our schools.

After reviewing the school budget, I have real concerns about the consequences of a failed referendum. The resulting budget reductions would put teachers, classroom resources, and programs at risk – things that directly affect students and have made a meaningful difference in so many lives.

When I think about our daughters’ experiences, I think about the teachers, coaches, mentors, and staff who took the time to get to know them, encourage them, challenge them, and believe in them. These are people who made a lasting difference in their lives, and as a parent, I couldn’t be more grateful. I know countless families throughout Noblesville have their own stories of educators who made a difference.

For me, this is about more than a school budget. It’s about the children growing up in our community, the people who dedicate their lives to teaching and supporting them, and the future of the place we are proud to call home.

The referendum represents an incremental investment of less than $2 per month for the average taxpayer compared with what they currently pay. I recognize that no one wants to pay more in taxes, and I take that responsibility seriously. But I believe providing our children with the opportunities, support, and education they need to succeed is an investment worth making.

I’m asking my fellow Noblesville residents to join me in supporting our students, our educators, and our community’s future by voting YES on the Noblesville Schools referendum.
