Dear Editor:
Sheridan Community Schools would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Town of Sheridan and the Marion Township Board of Boone County for their support of Sheridan Community Schools operating a referendum renewal.
On Sept. 15, the Sheridan Town Council passed a resolution supporting the referendum. The Town Council recognized that the proposed referendum is intended to replace the existing referendum and will not result in an immediate increase in the tax rate.
We are equally grateful to the Marion Township Board, which, following extensive due diligence, and voted on Sept. 17 to provide a letter of support for the referendum. Board members specifically noted their appreciation for the research and effort undertaken by the school board to demonstrate the return on investment for local taxpayers. They also encouraged Marion Township residents to support the referendum on Nov. 3.
Sheridan Community Schools is extremely grateful for the continued partnership, collaboration, and support of both the Town of Sheridan and Marion Township. Our community is strongest when we work together, and we deeply appreciate these local leaders taking the time to understand the referendum and support the future of our students and schools.
Thank you to the Town of Sheridan and Marion Township for standing with our Blackhawks and our community.
Dr. Dave Mundy
Superintendent, Sheridan Community Schools
