Westfield Washington Schools (WWS) announces that Stacey Swan, current principal of Westfield Middle School (WMS), has been named the inaugural principal of Westfield Middle School West (WMSW).

The appointment was approved and announced during the Oct. 13 Board of School Trustees meeting.

Swan will lead the new middle school as WWS transitions to a two-middle-school model beginning with the 2027-2028 school year. The current Westfield Middle School will become Westfield Middle School East (WMSE), with both schools serving students in grades 6 through 8.

Swan joined WWS as principal of WMS in 2023, bringing extensive experience in secondary education and school leadership. She began her career teaching English at Kokomo High School before becoming an assistant principal at Noblesville High School.

“Stacey has done an outstanding job leading Westfield Middle School since joining WWS in 2023,” Superintendent Dr. John Atha said. “Her experience, leadership, and commitment to students and staff have been invaluable as we prepare for the transition to two middle schools serving grades 6 through 8.”

In 2012, Swan helped lead Noblesville Schools through its transition from an intermediate school model to two traditional middle schools serving grades 6 through 8. She was selected as the inaugural principal of Noblesville West Middle School, a position she held until 2019. She then served four years as a principal in Hamilton Southeastern Schools before joining WWS.

Her experience opening a new middle school and navigating grade configuration changes has been particularly valuable as WWS prepares for its own transition. This school year, Swan has also helped lead the establishment and operations of the WMS sixth-grade campus located at Cool Creek Elementary School.

For Swan, the opportunity to open Westfield Middle School West represents a meaningful milestone in her career.

“Being chosen to help open Westfield Middle School West is an incredible honor and a true full-circle moment in my career,” Swan said. “The opportunity to help open one school building is rare, and having the chance to do it twice is extraordinary. I am deeply grateful for the incredible teachers and leaders who have shaped my journey, challenged my thinking, and helped me grow along the way.”

Swan’s familiarity with the district, experience leading middle school transitions, and commitment to creating supportive learning environments will help guide the development of Westfield Middle School West’s school culture and programming.

“Most of all, I am excited about the students and staff who will be part of Middle School West in the years ahead,” she said. “I look forward to seeing them take full advantage of our great facilities and innovative programming as we create a school community where students can explore their interests and discover new passions for learning.”

As Swan prepares to transition into her new role, WWS has begun the process of selecting the next principal of Westfield Middle School East.
