Celebrate the Halloween season with an evening of candy, entertainment, and family fun from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Grand Junction Plaza, 225 S. Union St., Westfield, for Trick-or-Treating in the Plaza, presented by NSpire Church.

This free community event will feature more than 60 local businesses and organizations handing out treats and candy to children of all ages. Costumes are encouraged but are not required to participate in the fun.

“One of Westfield’s greatest strengths is the way our community comes together,” Mayor Scott Willis said. “Trick-or-Treating in the Plaza is a fun, safe way for families to celebrate the season, make memories and enjoy time with neighbors.”

In addition to trick-or-treating, families can enjoy a full evening of Halloween entertainment throughout Grand Junction Plaza. Guests can enjoy live dance performances, while a magician will perform four shows throughout the evening in the amphitheater. Guests can also join in the fun at a silent disco party, enjoy complimentary face painting, take a ghost tour through Old Friends Cemetery and other historic areas of downtown Westfield, and purchase a Ghoulish Game Card for $10 to participate in carnival games throughout the Plaza. Proceeds from Ghoulish Game Card sales benefit Family Promise of Hamilton County.

At 6 p.m., the Great Lawn will transform into an outdoor movie theater for a showing of Goosebumps on the big screen. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and settle in for the movie.

Attendees can also help support local families through a donation drive benefiting Family Promise of Hamilton County. Guests are encouraged to bring one or more of Family Promise’s Top 5 Most Needed Items: canned foods, all-purpose cleaner, hand soap, Clorox wipes, and body wash. Donations can be dropped off at the NSpire Church booth during Trick-or-Treating in the Plaza.

Versiti Blood Center will also hold a blood drive during Trick-or-Treating in the Plaza. Community members are encouraged to make an appointment in advance to donate blood during the event. Register to donate blood with Versiti at this link.

Free parking is available in designated on-street spaces along Union and Mill streets, as well as the public lots at Park and Poplar streets. Parking in The Union garage is free for the first three hours, with a small fee for each additional hour. A complimentary shuttle will run for the duration of the event between the Westfield Washington Public Library, 17400 Westfield Blvd., and Grand Junction Plaza.

Official trick-or-treating hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. Motorists should use extra caution when driving through residential areas as there may be heavier foot traffic. Trick-or-treaters, please be cautious of vehicular traffic when crossing streets.
