The Carmel Fire Department (CFD) will open its doors to the public for its annual open houses from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Residents of all ages are invited to visit any of the city’s neighborhood fire stations and explore the state-of-the-art Carmel Fire Department Headquarters, home to the unique S.A.F.E House simulation facility, and the Carmel Fire Buffs Museum.
This city-wide event offers a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the daily operations of local emergency responders. Attendees can tour the stations, see fire engines up close, meet the firefighters serving their neighborhoods, and learn essential fire safety practices.
A new addition to the open house event, is the interactive experiences at the S.A.F.E. (Stay Alive Family Education) House. Located within the Headquarters building at 210 Veterans Way, the S.A.F.E. House features immersive, controlled environments that teach multi-generational citizens how to react to dangerous situations. Additionally, you will be able to take a step back in time in the Carmel Fire Buffs Museum and see the history of the fire service.
The goal of the evening is not just entertainment, but critical education. The slogan of the 2026 National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) fire prevention month is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is Your Superpower.” Come to the fire houses and learn about lithium-ion battery safety.
All open houses are free to attend, and no prior registration is required. Families, schools, and neighborhood groups are highly encouraged to drop by their nearest station to explore, connect, and learn. Visit any of these stations:
