Carmel on Canvas plein air painting event returns Aug. 28 & 29

The annual Carmel on Canvas Plein Air event will soon return. It is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29. This beloved two-day festival brings art to life right before the eyes of the community, inviting artists of all backgrounds to capture the city’s unique beauty in real time.

During this energetic weekend, the public is invited to watch artists set up their easels on sidewalks, paths, and parks, transforming Carmel’s most picturesque backdrops into finished masterpieces.

Event details

Artists will be competing for prizes across several of Carmel’s most iconic and scenic locations:

  • The Carmel Arts & Design District
  • Midtown and the Monon Boulevard
  • Carmel City Center
  • Kawachinagano Japanese Gardens
  • Central Park

Residents and visitors are highly encouraged to stroll through these areas to witness the creative process unfold live and interact with the artists.

Registration is open to any participating artists. Cost varies by category. Click here for more information.

Registration and awards will take place at Carmel Fire Department Headquarters, 210 Veterans Way.
