Lights Over Morse parade grand marshal surprises parks director with state award

(ABOVE LEFT) Cicero chose former Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter as this year’s Lights Over Morse Parade Grand Marshal on Saturday morning, July 4. (ABOVE RIGHT) On Friday, July 3, Carter presented Cicero Park Superintendent James Hunter with the Sagamore of the Wabash award.

Cicero Town Council Vice President Dennis Johnson said the following about Jim Hunter receiving the Sagamore of the Wabash:

“Throughout his career and personal life, Jim has exemplified the spirit of leadership, service, and dedication that the Sagamore of the Wabash recognizes.

“Jim Hunter has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the betterment of his community. His volunteer efforts, professional achievements, and personal integrity set him apart as a role model for others. Whether leading local initiatives, mentoring young people, or contributing to statewide projects, Jim’s positive impact is both broad and deeply felt.

“In addition to his service, Jim’s character is defined by kindness, humility, and a tireless work ethic. He approaches every challenge with creativity and compassion, inspiring those around him to strive for excellence and to serve others. His dedication to the values that make Indiana great is evident in all that he does.”
