As Lions Clubs International’s fiscal year comes to a close on June 30, the Westfield Lions Club welcomed nine new members during its June 18 meeting. The additions bring the club’s membership to 86, an all-time high in its 95-year history.
The new members include Ron and Michele Himler, Chris and Loretta Hirsch, Charlie Reynolds, Jane Carlson, David Greenbaum, Ronald Chapman, and Russ Davis. During the meeting, the club also received an application from Gary Klein, who will be inducted in July.
Lion Jeff Kozicki of the Noblesville Lions Club conducted the induction ceremony for the new members and also installed the club’s officers for the 2026–27 fiscal year. Lion Gary Smith will serve as president, with Lion Chris Bluto as first vice president and Lion Steve Hall as second vice president.

Following the inductions, the club unveiled its new eyeglasses collection box, which will be located at the Westfield Lions Community Center, 1101 E. 169th St. Supporting vision-related causes has been a cornerstone of Lions service since 1925, when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become the “Knights of the Blind.”
Lions Clubs around the world collect used eyeglasses that are cleaned, refurbished, and distributed to people in need. The Westfield Lions’ new collection box was built by newly inducted Lion Charlie Reynolds, with assistance from Lions Judy Waldroup and Loretta Hirsch.
Additional eyeglasses collection boxes in Westfield are located at Walmart, Busby Eye Care, Prather Optometry, and the Westfield Public Library.
The final item of business during the meeting was the approval of a $1,500 donation to the Hamilton County Coats for Kids program. The donation was made possible through proceeds from the club’s semiannual poker tournament.
The Westfield Lions Club has served the Westfield community since 1930. For more information about the club or membership opportunities, visit WestfieldLions.org.
